Europe in 24 languages – how does it work?

We would like to exclusively invite interested students to come and join the head of the European Parliament interpretation service, Agnieszka Walter-Drop, for a discussion about the role of languages in the EU institutions!

The EU is proud to work in 24 languages, with all languages treated as equal. The European Parliament is the biggest multilingual parliament in the world, where Members of Parliament can take part and legislate in any of the official languages. This is an important principle to make sure that all elected representatives have equal rights and opportunities to work in the interest of their voters. It also allows you to follow and understand debates that have a direct impact on your lives in your own language.

A multilingual Parliament is made possible by interpreters who get the message of Members across in all official languages, in over 5 000 meetings a year in the European Parliament.

But how does it work in practice? Come and find out on 8 May at 10h00 at Europe House, Valletta.

Places are limited and registration is mandatory.
